A CF Mother sends letter to
Carstar
To All Members of the CARSTAR
Collision Repair Centres Community:
I would like to extend a personal thank you to the
owners and employees of CARSTAR Collision Repair Centres
for your recent generous support of the Canadian Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation and the FrightLites Campaign.
As the mother of the six year old lion in the FrightLites promotional
pictures, it gives me great comfort knowing that businesses
such as yours have taken a sincere interest in helping
improve the quality of life for children living daily
with cystic fibrosis.
Our own son Marc begins each day with 1 hour of inhalation
(mask) therapy and physiotherapy. He takes approximately
50 pills to help him digest his food along with numerous
other medications throughout the day. Before lunch
and then again before bed, Marc has another hour of
mask and physiotherapy. He requires a nurse at school
to assist in his medical treatments. Although he rarely
complains, it is becoming difficult when other youngsters
are outside playing and Marc must come in early to
begin his mask and therapy. Needless to say, our family's
personal life revolves around his medical routine.
My husband and I dread the day when Marc is old enough
to understand the seriousness of his illness and the
fact that present medical research only gives him a
50-50 chance of seeing his 32nd birthday.
When Marc was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at one
year of age we were told that a cure or a control for
this disease was very close. We are still waiting.
We can only pray that Marc and other CF children will
benefit from medical advancements in their lifetime.
That is why we are very grateful and encouraged when
we hear of large companies such as CARSTAR Collision
Repair Centres taking an active role in seeking a cure
for cystic fibrosis. With your help we can give these
children the breath of life.
On behalf of my son Marc and other children suffering
from cystic fibrosis, we sincerely thank the employees
of CARSTAR Collision Repair Centres. Together we can
make a difference.
Sincerely,
